The Board of Trustees will adjourn to Closed Session to discuss the public employee appointment of an assistant principal at Sowers Middle School.

Kinetic Academy, a charter school originally approved in 2016 and most recently renewed through June 30, 2027, submitted a Renewal Charter Petition on July 1, 2026, requesting a new seven-year term effective July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2034. Per Education Code Section 47605(b) and Title 5, Section 11966.4, the Board is required to hold a public hearing on the petition, which both parties have agreed to extend by 30 days; Kinetic Academy will present its renewal petition, and the Board will hold a public hearing to receive community comment. Staff will report factual findings to the Board no later than fifteen days before the Board considers the renewal petition, with action required at the October 13, 2026 meeting to satisfy statutory deadlines.

Purchase orders have been processed in accordance with the District's rules and regulations and applicable legal requirements of the State of California, including contract services for the District's summer asphalt improvement projects at Eader Elementary, Hawes Elementary, and the future Transportation facility at the Ocean View School District operations campus (Bus Yard). At Eader, paving was completed ahead of schedule, and the project will be complete next week following slurry seal and final striping; at Hawes, concrete improvements and asphalt work are now complete and curing in preparation for slurry; and at the Bus Yard site, asphalt paving is underway following completion of demolition and subgrade compaction.
