Introducing Securly Home

We are excited to introduce Securly Home, a free parent tool available to every HBCSD family as part of our commitment to student safety. Securly Home connects to your child's HBCSD Google account, which means filtering and monitoring apply on any device where your child is signed in with their school credentials, not just a school-issued device. Here's what you can do with Securly Home when your child is signed in with their HBCSD account:

Schedule offline times

Set time windows when internet access turns off automatically, perfect for dinner, homework focus time, or bedtime. These schedules apply whenever your child is signed in to their HBCSD account, on any device. You can choose from preset options (School Nights, Weekends) or build a fully custom schedule. Once set, Securly Home handles the rest.

Review online activity

The Activity Feed gives you a real-time view of your child's recent searches, sites visited, and videos watched while signed in with their HBCSD Google account outside of school hours. Each entry shows the URL, content category, date and time, and which child in your household performed the activity. You can filter by child or by content type, and search for specific sites or topics.

Customize home rules

Block or allow specific sites and whole content categories whenever your child is signed in with their HBCSD Google account. You can also enable Google SafeSearch and YouTube Safe Video with a single toggle. Note: Some categories may be locked by the school; those appear with a school badge and cannot be changed.

Pause internet access

Need a quick break from screens? One tap pauses internet access for your child's account instantly, on any device they're signed in to. You can pause and unpause at any time, and if you have more than one child, you can manage them individually or pause all at once.

Opt in to notifications

Turn on Flagged Activity alerts to receive a push notification if Securly’s AI detects content that may indicate bullying, self-harm, or violence while your child is signed in with their HBCSD account outside of school hours. You can also turn on a daily Story reminder, sent at 4 PM, that lets you know a new summary of your child's activity is ready to view.

Weekly email reports

Securly sends a weekly summary of your child's at-home device activity to your inbox, a quick snapshot without having to open the app.

Getting started takes less than five minutes

1. Download the free Securly Home app from the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play (Android).

2. Open the app, tap Login, and enter the email address you have on file with your child's school.

3. Tap “Get instant access.” Check your email, click the link, and your account is ready to go.
